To have a better chance of getting concrete when you want it, order concrete 24 hours in advance. If you are placing a large order (60 yards or greater), let dispatch know a couple days in advance so we can properly prepare.
Confirm "will-call" orders two hours in advance
Order as close to the actual quantity needed as possible (i.e. if your job calls for 110 yards, don't order 70+ and call for a 45 yard balance). When you place a "plus" order, we schedule for one balance load. A two or more load balance hampers our ability to properly service your order.
Have good directions, a street address, and city when placing an order. This information is vital to timely deliver.
If you need to change an order, please call dispatch at least one hour before the concrete is expected on the job.
Communicate any issues on the job that will affect mixers returning to the plant.
Don't add water to make high slump concrete (this destroys strength). If you need to place "wet" concrete (more than a 5'' slump) we can help you plan a mix that will attain maximum strength and give the workability you need.
Get to know real slumps.
Have one person designated to give directions/instructions to the driver. Be willing to help trucks back into or out of jobs.
When guiding a truck, be aware of overhead wires, low branches, overhangs, and doorways.
Cure your concrete.
Don't perform any finishing operations until all surface water has disappeared (until the surface of the fresh concrete is dulled)
Do not hard trowel exterior flatwork.
Be careful when working around the mixer trucks and chutes. Never work or walk beneath the chutes.
We cannot carry extra chutes.
Remember, even if we have a truck waiting here for you to call it, it will take 45-60 minutes for your concrete to arrive on site.
Order 10% extra concrete to account for spreading forms, uneven sub-grades, settlement, etc.
Never spray water on the surface of fresh concrete until it has hardened.
Cut joints in flatwork two and a half feet for each inch of thickness (i.e. if the slab is 4 inches thick, a joint should be cut every ten feet).
